Emma Grueter

I’ve done the majority of my tattoos myself. Most without thought as a form of stress relief. I’m trying to plan out the rest of my art now

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My most recent tattoo is “to love & cry” done in a gothic font. I chose this as an homage to the quote “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” I often fall into routine cycles of life, work, sleep, clean, etc. and along with mental health issues, large chunks of time will pass by without me really doing anything. And this quote for me is essentially a reminder to try and embrace life and all its opportunities, whatever the outcome may be

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

My ink doesn’t have a set story, and a lot of it is unfinished. My left arm is based on the concept of love. As a teenager, I was definitely prone to escapism. Romance books became a big part of my life, and for a long time I had this idea that some fairytale lover would swoop in and make everything right. Which isn’t the healthiest of concepts to hold on to. Round about I’ve always been a bit of a hopeless romantic & this arm shows that but also the toxicity it can lead to

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25,000 would drastically change my life, as I’m sure it would for many others. I was in a car crash earlier this year, & a family member helped me get a new car, I would pay them back. My little brother’s wedding is also this year & I would help contribute to that. I’m also trying to build up my career as a tattoo artist & artist all around, so I would invest in that. Supplies & equipment, tattoo wand, light ring, art prints, etc. The rest would go into savings
