Alexis Grayon

My tattoos give me autonomy and a reclaiming of my body after hearing comments on it since I was young. They're everything I've ever loved.

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My most recent tattoo is of two spiders with their legs in the shape of a heart with “Lover” in the middle. It’s on my sternum because I wanted to keep it close to me, seeing it as a representation of my core self. I strive to be full of love and to share that with others. The imagery of spiders who are often kind, curious animals made me love them dearly. I also love the juxtaposition of these creatures being shown very delicately and sweetly. Shoutout Tessa (@lilbull.tatts) ♡

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

I think they would want to sing in different styles depending on their style, artist, and my life when I got them. They would each speak to their connection in my life ranging from deep, personal relationships to “Alexis thought I was really cute and now she has more confidence with me here.” They would paint an image of a multifaceted “entity” because in a way I do see them separately from me. Like two layers – my physical body and what others have crafted on it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I work in public health spaces to protect and advocate for equitable health regarding environmental and social exposures especially for pregnant people and children. In this space, a master's degree is expected even for entry-level positions which has greatly increased my student loan balance. However, the current political climate has made job prospects challenging and overall morale low. Without a doubt, this money would go to that debt so I can have a clearer mind to serve others.
