What inspired your most recent tattoo?

The tragedy, beauty, and outrageousness of central Florida. I grew up here and my sleeve is a celebration of the chaos and creativity that lives here. From the Creature from the black lagoon to a skull in flames, a reference to Flannery O’Connor to cormorant birds circling. The black and white framing gives maximum impact for a maximalist approach.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

It would tell stories of the American swamp south. It would talk about the beauty and despair, the mystery and frustration of being from this place where everything feels poisonous and dangerous but existing here feels authentic at the same time. About connection to the land, the water, the people.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would certainly use part of it to finish my left sleeve with Dave Bruel. Another Italian framed, American traditional piece that would feature a portrait of my grandfather in his flight gear from the 50s. The rest of that money would be used for savings for my 7 year old daughter, to invest in her future however she wants it to look - college, trade school, or adventure.
