A pair of birds representing my grandparents and the partnership they had. They support each other, balance eachothers shape/size, mate for life (60 years of marriage!), and protect each other. I struggle with accepting the love I think I deserve based on past toxic / abusive relationships - this serves as a reminder of the standard they set and what I deserve. If your ink could speak, what would it say?I feel my ink communicates who I am without the use of spoken word. It is a map/story of the most valued parts of who I am stitched together in a cohesive / unified composition to represent people, places, things - past, present, future - reminders, philosophies, symbols… all making me who I am over my life time. What would you do with the $25,000?I have always envisioned elaborate ways to continue my work. I recently started studying the tattooing too. The history/origin of Tata-au has inspired me for years. I can’t imagine $25,000 .. with my BA, BFA, & MAT in art & education-I’ve been teaching in SC for 12 years-that’s half my salary. I bartend & own my own nail business to support my tattoo funds!
