My body suit needed something from the life of Christ that was obvious and wouldn't require explanation of what was going on. I already had something from His birth. Already had something from His death and resurrection. Already had biblically-accurate angels and imagery from Heaven. Had talked with my artist about the Last Supper, but it would need to be vertical since it was going on my left leg. It was something new for my artist to do and a challenge, which he loved. He nailed it!
If your ink could speak, what would it say?Past hurt and pain doesn't have to define your present nor your future. Without knowing, I saw in my reflection what others saw -- an irredeemable screw-up who would only ever be a screw-up. And it hurt, deeply. So deeply I didn't realize how much I had internalized it. Now I see the beauty of my ink and hope for the eternal beauty of what the ink portrays through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. There's hope for everyone. We can all be redeemed.
What would you do with the $25,000?At least half of it would be given to local charities -- food banks, homeless shelters, etc. They'll do much more good with the money than I ever would. My artist (@luisink1104 on IG) would get a little bonus -- his work is amazing and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have the incredible, beautiful work of art to look at every day. He took my vision and turned it into something more amazing than I ever could have come up with. The rest would be for a rainy day.
