It started with what’s called a “jade tile”, beautiful old green tiles that decorated tiki bars and Chinese and Asian restaurants in the 50s and 60s. Jeff Kozan did that piece for me and then Covid made it hard for us to get together. When he could finally add to it, a colorful octopus wrapped her tentacles around it. I imagine it’s a piece of ship decor that fell into the depths as the ship sank in a terrible storm
If your ink could speak, what would it say?This tile is a beautiful piece of art found in an unlikely place, the bottom of the sea. It may be the only piece that survived the great ship it sailed on, but its beauty persists.
What would you do with the $25,000?I have a memorial tattoo that I would like to work on with an artist. I’d like to donate $5000 of it to one of my favorite tattoo-related charities, a group of artists that tattoo nipples or other art on the recipients of mastectomies.
