Enter For FreeMy most recent tattoo is of the red spider lily in remembrance of my son who passed away three years ago at the age of 20 from undiagnosed heart disease. He was a double major in economics and East Asian studies with a concentration in Japanese, and in Japanese culture the red spider lily is the flower associated with death and the afterlife. Next to the lily I have his name written in his own handwriting along with his thumbprint that was made into a heart next to my heart since he was my heart
If your ink could speak, what would it say? That I’m still standing, believe in hope and eternal love. I’d love to see my ink (if selected) be a statement piece reclaiming who I was before the grief, before the weight of my loss and before I had to hold my world together for the sake of my younger son. It’s about rising again, being soft in a cruel world and showing that it can be done just like a phoenix rises from the ashes
What would you do with the $25,000?Donate all of it to the two scholarships I set up in my son’s name at his college, one for his fraternity that pays for one brother to go abroad for the semester and the other for the East Asian Studies major for any student traveling abroad. Both are in memory of my son not getting to go to Japan for his semester abroad due to Covid. As of right now neither scholarship has reached the endowment level and this would make it possible to so that my son’s legacy of helping others lives
