Mix of different styles, whether it be a abstract design that ornaments my body, or a realistic design to symbolize an idea important to me.

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My most recent tattoo was a foo dog. I grew up seeing these statues at Asian business, and they are meant to bring good luck, protection, and prosperity. I got it to represent when I just graduated and started working full time to give me protection and good fortune in my new career. It was also my seventh tattoo, and the number seven can be seen as good or bad luck in my culture. Unfortunately, in my case it was bad luck because my skin rejected the tattoo.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

It represents me breaking from the norms of my Asian American identity, the overbearing rules of my parents, and my more conservative career as an accountant. I’ve started to forge my own path and have art work on my body to display my personality, interests, and things that are important to me. They show how my body is art as well.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off student loans and get a big tattoo with it. This amount of money is life changing for me, and I would hope to spend it wisely while leaving some of it for fun.
