What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My most recent tattoo was an adaptation of my cousin’s leg sleeve. He was our protector, brother, pretty much the light of my family. He had a forest of Wisconsin pines around his leg. Each of us picked a tree from his original tattoo and altered it. I put mine on the same leg so he walks with me everywhere I go. If your ink could speak, what would it say?

If my ink could speak it would talk about the love of nature, the beauty of connection, the softness and importance of kindness. Rock and art, chaos and compassion.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would open a free form studio. I think the access to art is too sheltered from the common person. We get art in high school, and then all these talented people fall into the norm of jobs so far away from it. I want a place you can go throw a vase, splatter paint a full canvas, learn to embroider, charcoal draw a stranger. I want to make art, art therapy, self expression more readily, easily available.
