Jose Laracuente

My ink is unique because I use my sessions as a coping mechanism. Usually I visit a tattoo artist when I’m stressed. This how I cope

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

Recently I had a tattoo done that says “Bronx “ with a crown on top. Coming from Puerto Rico to the South Bronx in 1972. Is something that has marked me and made me a person who works very hard to stay positive and motivated in everything that I do. It wasn’t easy. There was a lot of hard times. Through it all. I kept off drugs . Went to NYU , Cooper Union and John Jay. Stood out jail. No criminal record. Its a dedication to my roots! The South Bronx.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

“My fix to the conundrums of my life” Hours and hours being motivated by an artist that inflicts pain in order to beautify a broken person such as myself. My fix to The Paradox of my life which for me brings it meaning. My Ink says that “I’m a survivor and no matter what, I will fight to keep my head above water”

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’m having my smile redone by Nooga Dentistry. I would pay my implants. In Tennessee. I already payed part of it. This would increase my confidence. And bring my healing full circle. It’s been a long journey. Let’s say I’m 55 years old and have taken the long way in life. Part of a process. It’s a money that will be invested in me.
