Enter For FreeI was going through a lot of obstacles trying to get top surgery, something I’ve wanted for years and never had support in trying to get. Doing it alone felt so difficult at times, but I knew that it was everything for me- so I got a bunch of leaves on my arm to symbolize growth. My growth, on my terms, for myself and by myself.
If your ink could speak, what would it say?My ink would say this is the beginning of a long and hopefully great story. It started small, and dark, and has grown since. And it’ll grow even more. The beginning’s been about what I’ve been through and what I’ve learned, and now I’m looking toward the future as hopeful as I’ve ever been and ready to document my experiences to through beautiful artwork.
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d ensure that I’m able to afford my life-saving medication for at least another year, and that I can chase a maybe unrealistic dream without worrying about having a place to sleep or something to eat. It would also cover my legal name change, so I can cement my identity once and for all as I define it instead of how it’s been defined for me.
