Kara Singer

Every piece on my body is tied to a specific person in my life. I have been wanting to do one to represent my amazingly supportive husband.

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My most recent tattoo was inspired by my son. He had wanted to get a tattoo for years and begged me to design something sentimental for both of us. So I did a rose to represent the love we have for family, the nautical star to represent to guidance we seek in life and the vines that spring out from the rose represent the Nordic compass of life which are the principles we live by. We both got the tattoo done on the same day on our inner left arm. It is one of the most important pieces I have.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

Every piece is a chapter in the story of my life and the people who have touched it. Either for a moment or through the whole tale thus far. There are great memories along with tragic tales but every one of them has a deep personal meaning to me and would tell you that I loved without conditions, I fought with conviction and I survived with reverence.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to finally finish the projects we started on our first and forever home. We worked hard and I went through hell to save the money to finally buy a home. I’m no longer physically able to do the work that needs to be done to make this home “ours” but I’ll never give up trying.
