Katherine Carr

I have used tattoos as a way for me to inspire confidence. I grew up as a ballerina with body dysmorphia and used ink to love my body again

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

I’ve gotten to the point where the artist and I can just be creative with gap fillers. My most recent tattoo was on my left knee, filling an awkward space around my knee cap. It’s like a bonding moment being able to spit ball ideas and then my artist and I just have one brain cell to come up with this idea. Full trust and belief that they are going to make me look cool forever!

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

My ink definitely would be almost too confident. My pieces aren’t all perfect or make sense, but they make sense on me. She knows she makes me feel ridiculously cool and the pain it took to get here. It’s all worth it. She would hold her head high and be a boss bitch. I don’t think she’d have anything specific to say, more just an energy of confidence and beauty. An aura of loving myself.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Move! I’ve felt a little stuck. Life has become a little repetitive and like a pattern. I’ve been in Colorado for 8 years plus and feel like it’s time to make new connections somewhere new, where no one knows me. I like the feeling of being out of my comfort zone. I feel like i’ve stayed within my zone for too long, I’m ready to feel alive again. Tattoos definitely bring out a thrill, but I want my life to be continuously moving and growing, not stagnant. I want to
