My father was scheduled to have surgery on December 23. He never made it back home. They found the cancer had spread and all they could do for him was try and keep him comfortable. We spent both Christmas and new years saying goodbye to my Dad. He passed January 3rd. After his funeral I got a tattoo of a butterfly and sunflowers surrounding a sugar skull with heart shaped eyes. The tattoo represents life, love and death. It reminds me to find beauty in every day because life is not long enough.

The tattoo I got when I turned 18 would say dang girl, it’s been a wild ride. The owl cover up would be saying Whooo the hell did that last tattoo? The one of my Dad as a kid would say you were supposed to add a background to me. My lioness would say she is still protecting her pack. My tin man would say he was still searching for a heart even though he has a perfectly good one in his hands and the women on my chest would say she is the one who needs a heart because life has ripped hers ou

I would pay off my bills and do some much needed repairs to the house my father left for me and my boys. After my Dad passed I found out I had breast cancer and had to have surgery. After my surgery my Grandpa and my cousin passed. Life is too short and what we have left when someone is gone are memories. I would take my kids on the best vacation to give them lifetime memories and turn this year around for them. They deserve it.
