Kris Hayes

My sleeve tells the story of Odin—he gave his eye to gain lost knowledge. This ink isn’t just art—it’s an ancestral spell, etched in skin.

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

Ive always been obsessed with magic. As a writer, I’ve spent years chasing meaning—like Odin chasing the runes. When my family reunited, I realized my journey mirrored the myths: exile, sacrifice, and a return home transformed. The sleeve began as a tribute to that journey—a myth made real through blood, ink, and fate. My wrists remind me every day: Buadh no bas (victory or death) our family motto, and Timshel Thou Mayest - that it’s always a choice to keep going.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

It would whisper, “You are the story.” That every scar, every mile, every silence broken has led to this—an heirloom not of gold, but of meaning.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d finish the sleeve and take my father and brothers to Scotland—where our roots run deep—and film the entire journey. Not just for us, but for every family seeking their legend. I want to turn this tattoo into a living story.
