My tattoo is a portal — born from bloodlines of herbalists and birth workers in Mississippi, where life clings fiercely to the body. It honors the women I stood with, the prayers I whispered, the strength I lent through my hands. This is more than ink; it’s a map of survival, a talisman of love and fierce devotion, etched where spirit and skin meet.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

If my ink could speak, it would tell the story of my hands, which once held herbs and prayers for women’s bodies, and later held space for families in Mississippi as they brought new life into the world. It would carry the weight of every woman I supported, every family I guided, every moment I stood beside as birth and survival intertwined. It’s not just ink — it’s a vow etched into my skin, a testament to healing, resilience, and the sacred work I was called to do.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The 25K would be a catalyst for my birth work advocacy and my passion for art. I’d invest in photography equipment to capture the unspoken stories of motherhood, focusing on the raw, transformative journey into postpartum. My goal is to reveal the beauty and strength in these moments; to create a visual legacy that empowers women, elevates the birth experience, and sparks a deeper conversation about what it truly means to heal and transform after birth.
