Connect What inspired your most recent tattoo?

A lot of things, my mom had a parrot when I was growing up so it's a tribute to my mom. I'm also a loose cannon in the marine industry and have been called a pirate for being outspoken in my pursuits as a female in a very male dominant industry. So, every pirate captain has a parrot. And when I wear tank tops and people comment on it, I tell them his name is buddy guy and he talks, then I ask him questions and do my best ventriloquist act pretending to be buddy guy.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

Like indigenous totems they all tell my story. My left sleeve tells the story of a female mariner & the treasure we seek, the charts we use to find it. The mermaids who keep us safe & light houses that guide us home. My right side is a chimp on my back to watch out for things I don't see coming, a phoenix rising from the "asses" to remind me that losing everything means a chance to start again. What would you do with the $25,000?

My dream has been access to education for mariners in northern BC. So i would use some of it to help the communities i live in. Some would definitely go back in my favorite tattoo artist, Bryan Minnaker's pocket. And I'd probably take a vacation, because I haven't ever really done that, ever vacation I've ever taken was a working holiday!
