My most recent body art is my right sleeve which is Medusa themed. I always loved her story and the myths behind her. I love her power and also her plight. My sleeve depicts her tearing off the stone face of Perseus who in the myth is the one to kill her. I resonate with her plight of being raped and then wrongfully punished for it. She was a victim twice over. Ultimately her curse saved her from further rape and harm.
If your ink could speak, what would it say?My ink shows the story of finding your peace and happiness (ocean themed left sleeve), taking back my power (Medusa themed right sleeve) memorializing your family (dedication pieces to both my parents in each side of my ribs) and grounding myself in family (family tree themed anklet).
What would you do with the $25,000?If I was to win, I’d definitely dedicate a chunk to continuing to grow my ink collection and save the rest for my children to put towards their educational and artistic pursuits. My daughter is incredibly artistic and my son would love to be a game designer.
