At 16, my father taught me how to shoot film, and since then I’ve been seeing the world in B&W, which turned out to be the greatest gift. Unfortunately, I began to battle with my own worth while adulting, and still struggles with seeing my truth/beauty. Recently shuffling through my developed negatives, it reminded me how it held just as much truth, if not more, than the prints in positive lights, and that moment became ink.
If your ink could speak, what would it say?“Of all the moments you forgot to love yourself— I am proof that even in negative space, you exist as art.”
What would you do with the $25,000?1) Take my 85yo father on his last trip, to Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, where he always wanted to visit and photograph. 2) Get a matching old school scoll+heart tattoo with the old man. 3) Remainder of the money will go towards paying off my student loan.
