Melissa Hoard

I have too many ink ideas so I give my artist an idea and let them design and do their thing. That’s the fun, letting artists be artists!

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

I most recently got my fingers tattooed, little dots and lines by my nails. That was spicy! I have been wanting my hands and fingers done for many years so finally getting that going. It used to be a lot more taboo, now hand tattoos are more accepted. I want to add Viking runes to my fingers, symbols for protection, strength, things like that. I'm Norwegian and Scandinavian, and I like the Viking culture. Brutal but also beautiful.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

It would say, Why do you have so much bare skin?!? Of course ink tells stories and is unique to each person. I love the art of tattoos and being a canvas for artwork. I have often said that’s beautiful, put it on my skin!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to travel and visit different countries. There is so much to see in the world, we get wrapped up in our own bubbles. I like to see people in their element and learn about their way of life. It is good for perspective change and remembering we are all humans. I would also share with my family, and get more ink (always) I’m a pretty simple lady, I like experiences over stuff and things. Living is an action, not a state of being.
