Melissa Tucker

I was in trouble as a kid and took an apprenticeship to tattoo and I collected ink from my mentors and other apprentices around the country.

What inspired your most recent tattoo?

As a kid I read the book The outsiders and the story changed my view of life and it's possible obstacles, I'd like to say that it was responsible for a lot of the choices I would make in the future that would carve out my character so I got "Stay Gold" tattooed across my knuckles

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

Life's a journey, everything shifts and changes, there's no such thing as failure unless you give up, as long as you're still breathing the free air, it's not over, it's not game point till you call it, and till you stop walking, you're always on your way.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I haven't tattooed professionally in several years, I switched to becoming a live painter after getting kicked in the head I began to see deteriorating elements in my tattoo work, it's not fair to tattoo when you're not at the top of your game so I needed a change, and I have upwards of 100 pieces ready to go into production which is a really big project that I don't have the money to begin so I would hire somebody from my local community to begin to monotize and create merchandise from my art.
