I got my most recent tattoo in Sydney, Australia, while on my first solo trip out of the US. As a kid I dreamed of going to Sydney, and to celebrate achieving that goal, I had a few lines of poetry (written by me) tattooed alongside simple, flowing line work of a woman’s face looking powerful in her vulnerability: “Boast tired eyes and a tired soul but never a tired spirit.” My body and mind may be worn down by the world, but I refuse to lose my sense of wonder.
If your ink could speak, what would it say?It would say, “I am my person’s highest highs and lowest lows memorialized and worn proudly as art.”
What would you do with the $25,000?I would save a few thousand dollars for my next overseas adventure, and use the rest toward a down payment on a new house for my mother. She currently struggles to maintain a very large, old house which has been falling apart for years and cannot afford to move. I worry for her health and safety in that house as she’s alone and getting older.
