My most recent tattoo is a broomstick that I got in Salem, MA with 4 friends on a birthday trip. Salem is an emotional place for us, and we wanted a nod to our friendship and femininity and magic. It also reminds us what can happen when dangerous misinformation is taken too far in society, and the importance of and power in having your own back.
If your ink could speak, what would it say?My ink says I’m passionate, whimsical, & love myself, and want to celebrate what others try to silence. My ink has contributed to Planned Parenthood and other reproductive services. My mother’s handwriting is on me since she can’t be here in the flesh. The dog that saved me after my mom’s passing. Art. Friendship. A self love spell. Magic. Powerful women are on me. My ink reminds me of who I’ve been, who I am, and who I strive to be.
What would you do with the $25,000?My father has been on dialysis for three years and is battling kidney failure. He is my best friend and has supported me in ways I can barely express my gratitude for. It’s been just the two of us for almost 12 years, and I want to live as many amazing life experiences as I can with him while I have him. The personal growth I’ve experienced in recent years has also steered me toward social work, so the $25,000 would also go toward a masters degree and pursuing a new career!
