What inspired your most recent tattoo?

My anklet paddle tattoo tells the story of a gift received while paddling in Aboriginal waters. It reflects the deep connection forged through the Waʻa (canoe) and kai (ocean), a reminder of the respect, lessons, and gratitude from that sacred experience.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

We are the story she carries etched in ink, on her ʻili (skin). Over 30 years, we trace her journey: wahine (woman), kaikamahine (daughter), makuahine (mother). Rooted in ʻohana (family), shaped by ʻāina (land), and washed by the kai (ocean), we hold her mana (spiritual power) and the fire of her spirit. We hold her pain, healing, and strength. We are not just in and on we are kuleana (responsibility), memory, and essence. We speak her truth. This is her resilience, her identity. We complete her

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would buy land for my family, a place to pass down through generations. In Hawaiʻi, land is scarce, and we’re being priced out of our own home. This gift would connect to the legacy of my tattoos—honoring our roots, culture, and ocean. It would be a place where future generations can stay connected to our ʻāina, continuing our moʻolelo (story), and preserving the traditions that run deep in my heart and skin. A lasting gift, ensuring our legacy lives on.
