I had the opportunity to visit the Philippines with a close friend from there. I was struck by the insane beauty of everything. We visited lakes sacred to the indigenous people and I felt such a strong spiritual peace. As women we decided it was important to get tattooed while there as a way to connect the long history of inking before colonization. My ocean goddess holds the sanctity of ocean waters and the beauty of inked women!
If your ink could speak, what would it say?It would say that no matter how strong you need to be, no matter how much you have to endure, you can still choose to move softly in this world. There is always room to learn, to grow, to bloom to your fullest, and to love over and over again. Most importantly, to love yourself, every inch of you. We're only here for a little while, make all of it beautiful.
What would you do with the $25,000?I've been an artist all my life and coming from nothing, that brings all the struggles the stereotype holds. College debt, living paycheck to paycheck, part time jobs to let myself still make art I care about. Winning would change my life and give me the funds to establish my own art studio and create a body of work that truly represents what I'm capable of.
