Used to be embarrassed to admit all this but I didn’t cause it & couldn’t stop it so I may as well use it for inspiration! I’m a DV survivor. When I divorced, my belongings were destroyed, savings stolen, was ultimately left homeless. I rebuilt from nothing. However, I overworked myself & eventually my body shutdown. Almost died in 2020. I’m permanently disabled now; nevertheless, I’ve prevailed!

My left sleeve, made up of flowers, reps grace. The quote on my upper arm is “be the flower that gives its fragrance to even the hand that crushes it.” The crystals on my chest reps beauty w/in darkness, as crystals grow in the harshest of environments. The right sleeve has a sort of steampunk feel to it w/gears & circuits, repping strength. I trudged on, going through the motions like a machine, until my end goal was achieved.

This may be a boring answer to some, but I just want my full independence back —something most folks take for granted these days— we lived hand-to-mouth so long after the divorce & I’ve been unable to drive since becoming chronically ill, but I just got my DL back this year (must be seizure free 2 yrs in FL, which I am now, thank God) so I want to get a car & also take my son zip lining or something adventurous like that!
