What inspired your most recent tattoo?

I got my first tattoo 10 years ago for my (now failed) engagement. I carried that tattoo on my shoulder like a battle wound even though we both moved on. I finally covered it with 2 dragons from my favorite book. It reminds me that my mind is stronger than my body. That I am stronger than I thought I could be. Most people evolve into butterflies. I evolved into a dragon.

If your ink could speak, what would it say?

It would say that I have changed over time. That the experiences I’ve had has shaped the person I’ve become. The art on my body shows the journey. It’s a snapshot in time of my life at a specific moment. It’ll say that while I carry the scars of the past, I’ve turned them into something beautiful. That there is beauty in all the pain and there is art and stories through all the tears. I’ve learned balance and control and mindfulness and that I know who I am.

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25k? I’d probably travel and get some ink along the way. The first time I went to Sedona I walked into a tattoo shop and said I want something to remember this. We tatted an endless knot on me to remember things come and go, but it’s always connected. I’d do a photoshoot after to show all the artists and the new ink from the travels.
